PONMUDI DAM

PONMUDI dam stands as a vital element of the Panniyar Hydro Electric project, located in the picturesque area of Ponmudi. The Ponmudi reservoir is established by constructing a dam at Ponmudi across the flowing Panniyar river. This significant project is nestled within the Mudirapuzha basin, a sub-basin of the renowned Periyar river basin. Water from the Ponmudi reservoir is expertly diverted through an advanced water conductor system to the Panniyar Power Station (32 MW), which is elegantly situated on the left bank of Mudirapuzha. After the power generation process, the water is released back into the Panniyar river itself.
